Mochamad Danny Sukardan, S.Teks, born in Bandung on 10 August 1962, was a charismatic figure with a good story throughout his career and life. After graduating in Textile Engineering from the Institute of Textile Technology in 1988, he began his career as a civil servant at the Center for Textiles (Balai Besar Tekstil). Starting at the Textile Testing Laboratory, he chose the functional career path of textile researcher and consistently carried out research until retirement, reaching the level of Senior Researcher (Peneliti Ahli Madya).
One result of his dedicated research, still being developed by researchers across institutions, is the processing of the natural fiber Calotropis gigantea, or Biduri fiber. Several leading researchers at the Center for Textiles initiated exploration of this natural fiber's potential and processed it into textile fiber. Few were optimistic at the time, but thanks to Mr. Danny Sukardan's persistence and dedication in introducing Biduri fiber to academia, communities and industry, research on the fiber has gained momentum. May this be a continuing charity for him (amal jariyah), as beautiful and wide as the Biduri plantations now cultivated in several regions by local agricultural communities.
In the organizational structure, he contributed to the progress of the Center for Textiles' services as Head of the Testing Section (2007), Head of Testing, Certification and Calibration (2009), Head of Technical Services Development (2011) and Head of Research Facilities and Standardization (2016). Relaxed yet meticulous in reviewing his team's work, he was a leader close to everyone and open to discussion, both about work and about solutions to problems faced by industry colleagues.
His spirit of service, sharing information and seeking solutions has inspired the younger generation. For example, when the youth organization (Karang Taruna) of Nunuk Baru Village, Majalengka, came to consult on honje cotton they were trying to cultivate, he went straight to the field, saw the still very traditional cotton processing, and gave support and guidance in taking up natural fiber cultivation. Likewise, the many textile SMIs that came to discuss their problems with him were always listened to and engaged in discussion.
Farewell, Mr. Moch. Danny Sukardan, S.Teks.
Your spirit will always be an inspiration and reference for all BBSPJI Tekstil staff to keep serving and providing solutions for the TPT industry.

Thank you for all the dedication you gave to BBSPJI Tekstil for the advancement of Indonesia's textile industry. (humas/eo)
