Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita presented the policy direction and priority programs for 2026 at a Working Meeting with Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/9). On that occasion, the Minister stressed that the industrial sector remains the main driver of the national economy and is directed to become increasingly competitive, inclusive and sustainable.
The Minister said the non-oil and gas manufacturing industry is targeted to grow by 6.52 percent in 2026, contributing 18.66 percent of national GDP. The sector is expected to account for 74.85 percent of national exports and 14.68 percent of employment. Industrial equity is also projected to improve through the distribution of investment outside Java of up to 33.25 percent, in line with efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6.79 million tons of carbon dioxide as part of the transformation toward green industry.
“This target reflects the government's determination to make industry the main driver of the national economy. Industrial growth is not only directed at strengthening the economic structure, but also at providing direct benefits to the public through job creation, increased exports and stronger competitiveness,” the Minister of Industry said.
To achieve these targets, Kemenperin has prepared priority programs covering strengthening small and medium industries, creating new entrepreneurs, accelerating natural resource downstreaming, restructuring machinery and technology, and strengthening vocational education to build competent industrial human resources. Kemenperin is also prioritizing developing the halal industry, increasing the use of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) and accelerating the development of industrial estates in various regions. Implementing green industry is one of the main focuses, by encouraging energy efficiency, the application of clean technology and sustainability principles in production processes.
“Our manufacturing sector is highly resilient. Despite facing various dynamics and challenges, industrial resilience has been proven, and this is the basis for optimism about accelerating growth,” the Minister of Industry said.
“The strength of our manufactured products is the export market, which continues to show growth. This is the baseline and the basis for optimism about national business opportunities,” he added.
All these programs are designed in line with the national development agenda and President Prabowo Subianto's ASTA CITA. Kemenperin is committed to ensuring that every industrial policy not only strengthens the national economic structure, but also achieves growth that is inclusive, equitable and globally competitive.
“In line with President Prabowo Subianto's ASTA CITA, Kemenperin will ensure that every industrial policy provides real added value, strengthens the economic structure and encourages equitable development across all regions of Indonesia,” the Minister of Industry said.
The Minister of Industry also stressed that 2026 will be an important moment for Indonesia in promoting industrial products, expanding access to global markets and increasing investment flows.
“All the programs are prepared in line with the national development agenda and President Prabowo Subianto's ASTA CITA. Kemenperin is committed to ensuring that industrial policy is inclusive, competitive and sustainable. The support of the DPR RI is very important so that the 2026 industrial development strategy can be optimally implemented and become a strong foothold toward the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045,” the Minister of Industry stressed.
