The government, together with businesses and the public, continues to campaign for loving, buying and using domestic products so Indonesian industry can keep growing. This year the National Proud of Made in Indonesia Movement (Gernas BBI) is being held again after a successful start last year.
Supporting the 2022 Gernas BBI series, the Ministry of Industry and the Lampung Provincial Government launched BBI 2022 with the theme #LagawiFest. The Lagawi Fest kick-off coincided with Lampung Province's 58th anniversary celebrations.
“Since Gernas BBI was launched in May 2020 through December 2021, 9,208,680 MSMEs/SMIs have onboarded. Total MSMEs/SMIs onboarded now reach 17,208,680, an increase of 115% since BBI was launched,” the Director General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA), Reni Yanita, said on behalf of the Minister of Industry in Lampung on Thursday (17/3).
In line with Gernas BBI, Kemenperin consistently encourages small and medium industries (SMIs) to master digital technology in business (e-business) through the e-Smart IKM program. Since 2017, the program has trained 19,242 SMIs across Indonesia.
The national Gernas BBI 2022 began in January in Jambi Province and in February in South Sulawesi Province. “We are now working with the Lampung Provincial Government to hold the BBI Lampung kick-off with the theme #LagawiFest, Lampung Bangga Wirausaha Industri (Lampung Proud of Industrial Entrepreneurs), with the main event to be held in June,” Reni said.
The theme highlights the spirit of Lampung SMIs as competitive industrial entrepreneurs, with all the creativity and diversity of their local products. “The theme is also in line with the spirit of Indonesia's G20 Presidency, Recover Together, Recover Stronger,” she said.
As movement manager, Kemenperin coordinates related parties to carry out the Gernas BBI 2022 campaign to strengthen the branding of industry and products made by Indonesian Artisans, especially in Lampung Province.
Gernas BBI 2022 has a different concept from the previous year. Kemenperin, with the provincial and regency/city governments in Lampung, Bank Indonesia, OJK, top brands, Himbara and Dekranasda, will provide three months of intensive mentoring to 30 selected SMIs, previously recruited through the esmartikm.id website since February.
From 478 applicants, 30 SMIs were announced today, selected through curation by Kemenperin, Bank Indonesia, the Lampung Provincial Industry and Trade Office, Dekranasda Lampung and practitioners,” Reni said.
The 30 selected SMIs will then receive mentoring on digital literacy, business development and product development training (packaging, intellectual property, standardization and product quality). During mentoring, they will be encouraged to increase online sales, so in June five best SMIs (champions) will be chosen based on the highest sales and other criteria.
“The five champions that increase their sales transactions and turnover will be supported in strengthening product promotion, digital
marketing, exhibitions and Industry 4.0 technology, and will have the chance to take part in the BBI Award,” she added.
More Active Regional Governments
In Gernas BBI 2022, regional governments also play a more active role in supporting the success of mentoring SMIs into digital business and online marketing. Kemenperin also asked all regional governments in Lampung Province to optimize purchases of domestic products, especially those from SMIs.
“Because this year's domestic product purchase target is IDR 400 trillion through e-catalogs and online stores, with IDR 200 trillion expected to come from regional government spending,” Reni said.
Kemenperin also hopes regional governments and industry will seize opportunities from this year's G20 Presidency Forum. The major forum themed “Recover Together, Recover Stronger” is in line with the spirit of BBI 2022 #Lagawifest to promote the national branding of Lampung's leading local SMI and SME (Artisan) products, creating new industries, creations and innovations and larger markets for SMIs and SMEs in Lampung Province.
The presence of delegates from G20 countries in Indonesia will have an economic impact on Indonesia and must be used well. Industry players, including SMIs, must read this opportunity to introduce and market their products so they also benefit economically from this major forum,” Reni said.
