Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita praised the expansion by PT Citra Terus Makmur as a strategic step in strengthening the structure and supply chain of the national textile industry. The expansion is real proof that textile industry players in the country continue to show optimism and confidence in the growth prospects of Indonesia's manufacturing industry.
“I express my appreciation to PT Citra Terus Makmur for this strategic expansion. The company's expansion not only adds production capacity, but also strengthens the structure and supply chain of the national textile industry,” Minister Agus said in his remarks at the inauguration of PT Citra Terus Makmur's factory expansion in Sumedang on Tuesday (11/11).
The expansion involves an investment of IDR 500 billion. With this new capacity, PT Citra Terus Makmur is not only expanding its domestic market, but also strengthening Indonesia's position as an important player in the global textile supply chain.
Agus considers this expansion a real example of collaboration between government and the business community in driving the growth of the textile and textile product (TPT) sector, which has been one of the main contributors to the economy and national employment.
“This investment is proof of investors' strong confidence in the national TPT industry. We hope PT Citra Terus Makmur's move can inspire other industry players to keep innovating and expanding their production capacity,” he added.
The Minister of Industry stressed that although the TPT sector faces a number of global challenges, the industry's performance remains resilient. In Q3 2025, the growth of the textile and apparel industry was recorded at 0.93%, while exports remained stable at USD 8.07 billion, with a trade surplus of USD 2.5 billion.
In addition, the TPT subsector continues to attract investors. After declining in 2023, investment rose sharply to IDR 21.44 trillion in 2024, and IDR 13.85 trillion had been realized by September 2025. The industry also remains a major employer, with 3.76 million people working in the TPT sector, or 19.18% of the national manufacturing workforce.
“These facts show that despite external pressure, the TPT industry still has resilience and great potential to keep growing. The government continues to provide support so that this industry can transform to become more efficient, modern and globally competitive,” Agus said.
Agus explained that the government, through Kemenperin, has prepared various policies and programs to strengthen the competitiveness of the TPT industry. These include fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, improving workforce skills through vocational education and link and match programs, and accelerating the restructuring of production machinery and equipment.
The Minister of Industry also affirmed his commitment to supporting the availability of raw materials. “Under the Industry Law, the government is obliged to provide the raw materials needed,” he stressed.
