The Ministry of Industry is committed to continuing to contribute to national greenhouse gas emission reduction efforts, not only by supporting climate change mitigation but also through the transformation toward greener industry. Applying Green Industry is expected to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing in the country.
The Green Industry Policy is in line with sustainable development principles and supports the green economy, including through efficient use of raw materials, energy and water. It also encourages the transition to New and Renewable Energy (EBT), technological improvement and innovation, control and management of chemicals and waste, and efforts to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions.
“Key initiatives for strengthening and accelerating green industry also include applying Green Industry Standards and the Green Industry Awards,” the Head of the Agency for Industrial Standardization and Services Policy, Andi Rizaldi, said in Jakarta on Friday (20/9).
To support strengthening and accelerating green industry, the Ministry of Industry presented Green Industry Certificates and Green Industry Awards to industrial companies on the first day of The 1st Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) 2024 on Thursday (19/9).
Green industry certificates were presented to 10 industrial companies certified in July–August 2024. In addition, two companies obtained green industry certificates through self-funded certification: PT Platinum Ceramics Industry and PT Tata Metal Lestari.
In 2024, the Green Industry Award was given in the Best Performance in Applying Green Industry category. This means participants were companies with active green industry certificates. “A total of 44 companies registered in 2024, from 19 commodities for which green industry standards (SIH) have been set,” Andi explained.
Assessment was carried out in two stages by the Technical Team, followed by an Advisory Board Meeting to determine the three best companies in the Best Performance category. The Ministry of Industry named PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, PT Sarihusada Generasi Mahardhika and PT Petrokimia Gresik as winners, receiving the 2024 Green Industry Award Trophy and Certificate in the Best Performance in Applying Green Industry category.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry presented Plaques and Certificates of Appreciation for Best Efficiency Efforts in Applying Green Industry to four industrial companies, and Plaques and Certificates of Appreciation for Best Compliance with Green Industry Standards to 10 industrial companies that passed the second stage. The other 27 industrial companies received Certificates of Appreciation as participants in the 2024 Green Industry Award.
In his remarks at The 1st Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) 2024, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita expressed his hope that companies receiving the Green Industry Award would set an example for all industries in Indonesia to keep innovating and contributing to a sustainable future.
